Ireland fall to Spain in final men’s Euro warm-up tie

Men’s international test match

Ireland 1 (M Robson) Spain 2 (X Lleonart, A Beltran)

Ireland’s men fell to a 2-1 loss to Spain in their final warm-up game for the European Championships.

Michael Robson gave Alexander Cox’s side a first half lead from play in the sweltering Terrassa heat on Tuesday morning.

But the tie turned in the third quarter when Xavi Lleonart equalised and Albert Beltran got the winner with 19 minutes to go.

It continued a frustrating run for the Irish side who have played well in patches against Malaysia, England and Spain in the past five days but have not been able to see out results from winning positions.
