Styles on board as new UCD coach

UCD Men’s Hockey Club have announced Michael Styles will be joining the club this season as first team coach.

“Michael brings a wealth of experience, success and diligence having previously coached Monkstown and Glennane men’s first teams as well as the Irish Junior Green Army,” a club statement said as he takes over the role vacated by Rudi Wortmann following promotion via the playoffs last term.

“He will join us at an exciting time for our club as we make our return to the EYHL Division 1 and, with his help, aim to stake a claim in the league for many years to come.”

Styles added on joining UCD Men’s Hockey Club: “I am absolutely delighted to join UCDMHC for the 19/20 season. The lads did really well in securing a place in the EYHL and we hope to build on that, developing a squad capable of maintaining our status in the league for years to come while creating an environment for underage Irish internationals to come, play and develop into full internationals.

“I believe we have the facilities and squad to do so. The squad is young, talented and hungry and I look forward to starting work with them.”
