Overview: Hermes-Monkstown – the new amalgamation club for the 2016/17 season – will feature a large portion of the side that were runaway champions of the inaugural EYHL, earning them a ticket to Den Bosch to compete in the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup from June 2-5, 2017.

They will look to build and develop their squad this season as they represent Ireland in the top tier of European hockey where they will battle it out against Europe’s elite.

Hermes, in their last ever outing pre-amalgamation, had a fairytale ending and introduce Gareth Watkins as assistant coach this season who brings a wealth of international experience with him. They will be looking to benefit from his presence and knowledge to bring a different dimension to their side this season.

They will look to continue their dominance this season with Irish Internationals Nikki Evans, Anna O’Flanagan and Chloe Watkins leading from the front. They racked up over 60 goals between them last season.

Alongside them will be Ellen Curran, Suzie Kelly, and Amber Barnwell who bring energy and youth to their line-up. These talented youngsters will be nurtured and developed following on from their successful stints with the Irish U18’s and Leinster U21.

Combined with the likes of the established players Emma Gray, Eimear Horan, Christine Quinlan, Rosie Corrigan, Sarah Greene and Liz McInerney, they will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Irish International Naomi Carroll is unable to play this season due to college commitments in Limerick while Sinead Loughran has gone to play in Germany for the season. Sarah Patton and Sally Campbell have opted to play for UCD.
