Nikki Evans and Gillian Pinder both struck in the last ten minutes to see Ireland beat Wales 2-0 in Mori, Italy to win their Tri-Nations title.
In addition to Thursday’s 3-1 win over Italy, it saw them continue their strong run of form in recent times. They will play Italy again on Sunday in a challenge match before returning to Ireland.
Evans finished off after Chloe Watkins set up the opportunity. Moments later, Aine Connery showed her determination to set up Pinder from the left baseline.
The Green Army are next in action in a four nations tournament in Dublin from Saturday, July 12 to Wednesday, July 16 at the National Hockey Stadium in UCD against New Zealand, Chile and Canada for which the schedule has just been confirmed.
Elsewhere, the Irish Under-16s made it two wins in a row in Austria as goals from Abbie Russell, Jessica McMaster and Sarah Torrans lifted them to a 3-0 victory.
