The Hook’s September “Best of Facebook”

Bored in work? Free period from school. To help you through the hump days, The Hook will this season be publishing a “Best of Facebook” post once a month with the best clips, interviews, websites and everything besides that we have witnessed or been sent from around the hockey world to our Facebook page.

Feel free to drop us your ideas at, leave a comment on this post or leave a comment on the Facebook site.

** Where better to start than to support Irish men’s captain Ronan Gormley in his bid to become Stellar magazine’s Bachelor of the Year. To see his interview and find out how to vote for him, click here

** Ballywire were on hand to record the announcement of the Central Preparation Programme, check out interviews with the players and ESB Chief Executive about the programme here:

** Conor Harte has been speaking with the Netherlands’ top hockey website,, about his “dream come true”, playing hockey professionally with SCHC in Bilthoven (requires some translation from Dutch into English!)

** Now for a bit of action from around the globe. First off, check out the cheeky reverse pass from the Dutch Hoofdklasse game between Pinoke and HDM.

** Ireland’s U-17s finishing fifth in the Youth Olympic Games, click here for the highlights from last month.

** Argentina in the Women’s World Cup were a joy to watch. Their second goal against China of our favourite highlights from the tournament, skip to 3m 50 seconds.

** Meanwhile, you can relive the entire final from that event (and, indeed every other game in the competition for a limited time) at the Laola 1 website.

** Finally, here’s one of the more interesting clips from that World Cup – a motivational video for the umpires. (Warning – strong language used on two occasions)
