** (added June 30) Railway Union Hockey Club Women’s 1st Team Coach for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

This role will include but will not be limited to the following duties:

·       The development and implementation of a coaching programme and defined playing principles for the team.

·       The planning, organisation and execution of 2 training sessions per week.

·       Attend all matches.

·       Create a positive environment and motivate players to achieve their full potential.

·       Promote and increase awareness of Railway Union Hockey Club, encourage participation from team to club level and promote the club’s principles and ethos.

·       Weekly and monthly team selection.

Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:

·       Ability to plan and implement high quality and varied coaching sessions that have both individual and team focus.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Positive attitude and ability to maintain a positive team environment.

·       Willingness to liaise with fellow coaches, including Women’s 2nd team coach, to maintain high levels of player development and ongoing possibilities for player progression.

Desirable additional skills for interested candidates:

·       Video analysis experience.

·       Goalkeeper coaching

·       Fitness/ Strength & Conditioning experience

Previous coaching experience and a minimum of IHA level 1 Coaching qualification is required, however higher qualifications will be considered preferable. This role will be for an initial 1-year period, with the option to extend the agreement to a longer term.

** (added June 30) Limerick Hockey Club is seeking a coach for the Men’s section of the club for the 2020/21 season and beyond. The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset and value the importance of developing a strong, inclusive culture within the team and club in addition to being performance driven.

The club currently has one men’s team that plays in Munster Division 2, several cup competitions, and the Munster Indoor Championship. The team are current back to back Munster Indoor Champions and in 2019/20 the team won the Munster Junior Cup, the Cork Cup, and were runners up in the Hockey Ireland Challenge Cup.

The club is aiming to increase playing numbers and grow back to two mens teams as soon as is realistically possible. We would like to attract candidates who are interested in overseeing the club’s mens programme as a whole and keen to support initiatives to grow the programme to establish a second team, however, the role would not include coaching a second team.

The current playing squad includes a well balanced mix of experienced players who are capable of assisting with coaching responsibilities and young players, some of whom are also playing school hockey. Several players have made Irish Junior Age Group and Masters teams within the last two years and there is significant potential for growth among the squad. The role would be ideally suited to a coach who gets a lot of reward and satisfaction from seeing his / her players grow and develop.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive package which will take into account their relevant experience.

** (reposted June 30) Our Lady’s Hockey Club is looking to appoint a committed and ambitious head coach for our First XI team for the 2020/2021 season. The club currently has four senior teams and a thriving youth section with 220+ young players.

The ideal candidate will:

–          have an interest in identifying, developing and integrating our youth players into the senior squads,

–          have the ability to deliver challenging yet enjoyable training sessions,

–          be able to communicate well and work with other coaches within the club to provide a unified coaching plan,

–          be able to manage, support and develop individual players,

2nds Head Coach– Genesis 2nds play in division 3 and train with the Genesis 1sts on Mondays and Wednesdays between 20.00 and 21.30 in St Raphaela’s.The 2nds coach will work alongside the 1sts coach to ensure Genesis 2nds retain division 3 status and build towards achieving division 2 status. 

Other Coaching Positions – We are also looking for coaches for our division 8, 9 and 10 teams. These teams currently train on a Tuesday and Thursday 7.30-9.

** (added June 2) Rathgar Hockey Club are seeking a men’s first team coach for the upcoming 2020/2021 season.

The role will comprise of the following duties:

  • To produce and implement a well-structured and progressive coaching programme to meet the needs of players
  • The preparation, organisation and execution of training sessions from 7-9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • To attend matches on Saturdays (and sometimes Sundays, depending on the competition)
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and enjoyable environment in which to motivate players and encourage participation
  • To develop players’ skills to compete at the highest level
  • Being responsible for team selection

Potential candidates should have the following skills:

  • Ability to develop and implement high quality, varied and creative coaching sessions, focusing on player skill development and creating tactical awareness
  • Ability to communicate in a highly effective manner with players and have excellent team-building skills
  • Ability to organise with attention to detail and in an efficient manner
  • Ability to instruct and lead players
  • Ability to motivate players to perform to the best of their ability

Previous coaching experience and a minimum IHA Level One coaching qualification would be an advantage. Rathgar Hockey Club will also consider the option of a player/coach if the applicant is interested in such a position.

We have 5 Ladies and 3 Men’s Squads competing across Leinster Divisions 1 to 12, in addition to a Ladies Vets side and a very large Junior section.

Senior training usually takes place on Tuesday and Thursday nights in Bray and/or Greystones and squads compete in their relevant Leinster and Hockey Ireland competitions.

Bray HC is Clubmark accredited and candidates will be subject to  being Garda Vetting, having achieved minimum of Level 1 coaching badge along with previous coaching experience.

After many years of dedicated service, Avoca Hockey Club’s current Director of Hockey is stepping down. The Club is now seeking a new Director of Hockey. This position is important to the development of coaches/players and will play a key role in continued success of Avoca Hockey Club for many years to come.

Director of Hockey (Part-Time)

Reporting to the President and Vice President, the Director of Hockey will take responsibility for the selection and management of the Club’s coaches. The Director of Hockey will work closely with coaches on a one-to-one and collective basis to ensure that records, scheduling and other key materials/processes are managed in a smooth and professional manner. The Director of Hockey will play a key role in the devising coaching models, developing players’ skills and maintaining the Club’s competitive strength for seasons to come. 

Avoca Hockey Club is seeking someone with a strong understanding of sport planning and management. The ideal candidate will show a strong drive for achievement and success building. The post-holder will also demonstrate a range competences and experiences, including budget management, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
