Gareth Borland’s Leinster U-16s go unbeaten to win their interprovincial tournament at Newpark on Sunday. The U-18s, however, were denied their respective title at the very last by Ulster
Three wins from four outings at Newpark gave Leinster the early initiative in the schoolboy’s interprovincials though the blues may be a little frustrated not to complete the clean-sweep.
Leinster’s U-18 and U-16s face a mighty battle to win back the respective titles from their Ulster counterparts at Newpark this weekend.
Following a delayed announcement due to a number of injury concerns, the Leinster U-18 squad was released today for the upcoming interprovincials which are set to be played in Newpark from Friday, November 19 to 21.
Ulster retained both the ESB U-18 and U-16 girl’s interpro titles – both for the fourth year running – with some panache this afternoon in Milltown, completing a clean sweep in both competitions.
Ulster look the team to beat in both U-18 and U-16 interprovincials after they and Leinster recorded two wins on the opening day of competition in Milltown. The battle between the two sides late on Sunday’s schedule could well decide both titles as both snuck past the challenge of Munster.
Both Sarah Scott and Justin Sherriff have seen a large turnover in players for their respective U-16 and U-18 interprovincial Leinster squads who are in action all weekend at Alexandra College
According to this morning’s Examiner – and subsequently on Southern Fried – the U-21 interprovincial tournament is set to be scrapped for the coming season.
