North Kildare on a roll to reignite battle at the bottom

North Kildare made it two wins from two games since the return of the women’s Leinster Division One to action as they got the better of Rathgar 2-0.

It has quickly transformed their outlook on the season with goals from Katie Edgehill and Isabel Angel turning them from what looked like relegation certainties to now within three points of fifth place Naas.

It makes for a fascinating couple of weeks with very little covering the bottom six. Otherwise, the sides in the top four in action all won. Trinity won against Naas 3-1 with Amy Buttimer bringing her goalscoring tally to 12 with a double, adding to one from Erica Markey.

They combined to build a three goal lead before Saidhbh Farrell delivered a beautiful reverse-stick finish to reduce the deficit.

Kate O’Connor’s penalty corner bash earned Glenanne a 1-0 win over Clontarf to put them in the middleground of fourth – eight points ahead of the sides below them, seven back form the top three.

Sadhbh Hoban-Logan scored twice for the second week running as Monkstown were too strong for Genesis in a 3-0 victory.

Leaders Corinthian are involved in a back match on Monday evening against Avoca where a win would re-establish their eight-point lead.
