Umpires get Specialist support of new Adidas equipment

The Irish Hockey Umpires Association (IHUA) is delighted to announce that it has signed an exciting clothing partnership with Specialist Sports Limited, the exclusive distributor for Adidas hockey equipment in the UK and Ireland.

Rob Abbott and Kris Cholewa

Under the agreement, Specialist Sports becomes exclusive technical partner to the entire IHUA hockey umpiring panel for on-field and off-field high performance Adidas products.

The partnership includes all of the competitions that IHUA appoints to, including the EY Hockey Leagues, Irish Cup Competitions, All Ireland Schools Finals, International Test Matches and Indoor hockey.

IHUA Chairman Warren McCully commented: “This partnership with Adidas is a superb opportunity to align with a synonymous brand and to present a professional approach on the pitch.  It is vital that as umpires we have a common identity and our uniform is key part of that.”

The deal was secured after an extensive process, having received tenders from a number of leading brands and suppliers to partner with the association.

Executive Committee member, Geoff Conn, revealed that: “Specialist Sports have been incredibly professional to deal with from start to finish. We have been able to utilise their design expertise to create a custom on-field shirt range for all our members, an exclusive shirt for EYHL panel umpires, and a complementary range of high performance casual wear.”

The deal was put together by Specialist Sports’ Lia Waine who added: “We understand the precise needs that an umpires association such as IHUA has, and look forward to working in partnership with them, and an international cycle which will include preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and both the Men’s and Women’s World Cups.”

Eagle eyed spectators will have seen the new range proudly being worn by IHUA umpires appointed to the EHYL Champions’ Trophy Finals and the Irish Senior Cup Finals at the conclusion of last season before being fully rolled out for the upcoming 2019/2020 season.
