St Kilian’s advanced to the boys Leinster Junior B league final with a confident 3-1 victory over Wesley, setting up a date with Sutton Park.
In a thrilling affair, Oisin Ryan poked home a loose ball to put Wesley 1-0 up inside the first seven minutes.
Back came Kilian’s who raced forward from the tip-off and Jake Dempsey scored, picking up a rebound from the keeper to level the game at 1-1 instantly.
It stayed that way into the second half when the Clonskeagh side lifted their game and started making inroads into the Wesley circle.

Three minutes in, Michael Brennan drilled wide but their intensity was rising. The St Kilian’s back four, led by sweeper Arthur Simms, tightened up and allowed a platform to create chances.
After 15 minutes of pressure, they won a corner which Michael Brennan smashed home a rocket of a shot from the top of the circle for 2-1.
Four minutes later, St Kilians caught Wesley on the break from their own 22. A terrific passing sequence down the left finished off by Robin Macarulay who scored to seal the win.
Sutton, meanwhile, made it through to the final with victory over Newpark via a shoot-out. Their first attempt at playing their final this week was frozen out, as was the Junior A final between St Andrew’s and Wesley.
At Under-13 level, Kilian’s also reached their B league final with a 3-0 win over St Columba’s on Friday.
In the Senior Trophy, Wesley won in the opening round 6-2 at Mount Temple, going through to a date with Kilian’s. Newpark won at Sandford Park 3-0 to give them a game against Kilkenny College.
Elsewhere, Ashton won the Whiteside Trophy of the first time.
