Overview: Having been knocking on the door for the last couple of seasons, newly promoted YMCA will be looking to consolidate in the league under head coach Jason Klinkradt. The opening match of the season marks Klinkradt’s 100 competitive game in charge.
Ex Irish International Justin Sherriff continues as assistant coach who looks to build on the success of the team after his first full season as assistant coach last, year after his transition from player/assistant coach.
Captain Ben Campbell led the Leinster goalscoring charts last season, narrowly ahead of team-mate South African Grant Glutz – who will return after a brief season in Australia.
Between them, the pair scored over 60 goals and, alongside Jamie Tobin, were a formidable strike force in Leinster last season. YM will be hoping the trio can carry their form into the new season. Midfielders Thom Ritchie and David Robinson, along with the ageless Will Powderly add experience to a young squad that includes Irish Under-21 international Sam Hyland and Leinster’s Ben O’ Grady.
Seven additions widen their panel for the challenge ahead with Klinkradt saying he was “really looking forward to the season, it is an exciting time for the club with the promotion and a lot of new faces! We can’t wait for the first game to show what we are made of!”
