Trevor Dagg leading the charge for St Catherine’s

It’s time to dig out your wetsuit, bike and running shoes for St Catherine’s who are looking for members of the public to sign up for this year’s Sporting Proud Triathlon, on Saturday, 1st of September, at Brittas Bay.

“It doesn’t matter if you are fit or not so fit – please register and help raise much-needed funds for St Catherine’s,” urged well-known hockey figure Trevor Dagg whose daughter Robyn attends the services at St Catherine’s.

“It’s a fun day. There is an Olympic length event for the serious athletes and for others who just want to support the St Catherine’s charity there is a sprint or shorter event.”

Entrants can do the entire triathlon or form a team of three and complete just one leg each.

The Olympic length event involves a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, while the Sprint or fun event is just a .75km swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.

“Individual entrants are asked for a €100 registration fee with a fundraising target of €250 and teams of three have a €300 registration fee with a target of €600, but we are hoping some can exceed that.” Trevor explained. “We are also urging companies to form teams to compete for St Catherines.”

To Register go to: https://sportingproud.org/register – and select “St Catherine’s Association” as your charity of choice.

To Donate or Fundraise to cover your Registration Fee: You can set up a JustGiving Page online https://www.justgiving.com/sportingproud or go to Trevor’s specific page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/trevordaggsportingproud .

All funds raised are going towards the refurbishment of a number of the St Catherine’s buildings and the development of a new activity facility for the children.

St Catherine’s Association supports children and young adults with moderate to profound physical and intellectual disabilities with respite and residential accommodation, early services interventions, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapies, and psychology services.
