Loreto Foxrock and Mount Anville claimed the girls Senior Premier League semi-final places from Section B in the last few days before the Christmas break.
The latter topped the group as they recorded a 4-1 over Mount Sackville. They were on top for the most part but the Chapelizod outfit defended extremely well in a packed circle with numerous strong blocks and saves.
As it was, a lovely individual goal from Natasha Twomey in the first two minutes gave the Goatstown school an early advantage. Two from Niamh Gowing extended out the lead before Katie Ronan scored the fourth in the second half from the edge of the circle.
Mount Sackville scored a consolation goal on the break but it was Anville who were celebrating with six wins out of eight in their campaign, finishing on 22 points.
Foxrock joined them following a 1-1 draw with chief rivals Muckross Park on Tuesday afternoon. It was the result they required to edge out the Donnybrook side who required a win to oust them from the top two.
Foxrock end on 20 points and will play Alexandra College in the semi-final in January. Mount Anville will play either St Andrew’s or Loreto Beaufort who finished level on points in their group.
The winner of that goes into the Premier semis while the loser will face Muckross in the Claudia Tierney cup semi-finals; King’s Hospital meet Wesley in the other Claudia Tierney semi-final.
