Overview: Jonny Caren has been appointed coach, moving from Monkstown where he took the Leinster-based side to second in the EYHL and winning an Irish Senior Cup, combining the job with his roles as the Irish men’s assistant coach and Under-21 head coach working towards the Eurohockey Junior Championships in 2017.

He will be assisted by Alan Sothern who will work with internationals like Kirk Shimmins, the returning Mossie Elliott and Mark Ingram while Harry Spain and Keith O’Hare make for a strong base at the back.

With a large number of senior players moving on this season – including their large Cork component from recent years – it will be a matter of developing youth players throughout the year and gaining valuable experience in the EYHL. Adam Pritchard has retired, Scott Sullivan has moved to the US for a college year while Nick Burns is trying his hand with UCD rugby this term in addition to the Lynch brothers heading to Monkstown while Justin Sherriff will be assistant coach at YMCA this season.
