Overview: Former C of I player Neil Welch is back at the coaching helm having coached UCC for the past five seasons; he previously coached the team from 2005 to 2008.

He takes on a team that should have a more settled look this year and are hoping to push themselves into the top half of the table as well as a good cup run. The experience of last season’s competition will stand to a lot of their younger players and they are hoping to hit the ground running with a number from their Irish Junior Cup winning panel looking to push for a full-time place in the first team squad.

The team have been back training since late July but there are fitness concerns about David Harvey, Simon Wolfe and David Hobbs. John Jermyn is the new team captain and he is looking forward to getting going after his exploits in Rio this summer.

Wesley Brownlow returns to the club from his stint with UCC while Ken Twomey is back in Cork after spending the last ten years in Dublin and London.
