Genesis Hockey have confirmed Lisa Jacob and Fiona Connery will both continue as coach and assistant coach of the club’s first team next season.
The club finished a creditable seventh place following their return to Leinster division one this season as well as reaching the Jacqui Potter cup semi-final for the first time in 30 years. In addition to her position as first team coach, Jacob will also assume the role of Genesis Head Coach, which will involve mentoring coaches in the senior and junior sections of the club with the objective of introducing a standard approach to coaching throughout.
Mick McKinnon will continue to work on a consultancy basis with the club, supporting both senior and junior coaching teams towards raising the standard of coaching throughout the club.
Commenting on her continuation as coach, Jacob said: “Genesis 1s have had an excellent season when you consider where they were this time last year. It has been fantastic to work with a committed group of players who have pushed themselves to a new level of training and competition, finishing comfortably on 19 points.
“We lost five games by one goal, an indicator of how competitive we have been with teams in the top 5. I am excited about coaching such an up-and-coming team, and building on the foundation the girls have laid this year.”
Genesis are based in St Raphaela’s School in Stillorgan and are welcoming new players of all levels to the club. For more information, contact email@example.com.
