The Irish team defeated Scotland in the last game of the tournament 3-1 to win the Grand Master’s Celtic Cup in Bangor to land the Over-60s title in Bangor, Co Down yesterday.
Glenanne’s Eddie O’Malley opened the scoring with a terrific strike and Bangor’s George Blackwood scored from two penalty corners to open up a 3-0 lead. Scotland pulled one back with 10 mins to go but the Irish held on to win.
Friday night had seen them play a tough encounter with Wales, ending in a 1-1 draw. Saturday saw them win comfortably 7-1 against France.
