Women’s Leinster Division One
Corinthian 1 (Amber Kinlan) Pembroke 2 (Erika Hinkson, Sarah Clarke)
Pembroke came from a goal down at Whitechurch Park to beat Corinthian, moving back into a share of fourth place with Loreto with their sixth win of the season by a single goal margin on Monday evening. The reds took the lead after 20 minutes from a smart counter-attack as Sarah Torrans played in Amber Kinlan to make it 1-0.
It was a fine execution of their half-court press as they sat deep for long periods and tried to break at pace and they defended particularly well in the first half. They were pegged back, though, when Erika Hinkson, who had a strong game, won the ball from her side’s press, beat a defender and completed a lovely goal from the top of the circle. Soon after, Sarah Clarke scored from a corner to swap the lead around.
From there, Corinthian had chances on the counter while, inspired by Rachel O’Brien, Pembroke could have extended their lead but it remained 2-1.
