Men’s Leinster Division Two
Clontarf made the big move on a weather-affected Saturday with only two matches surviving the weather. They ran up a huge 9-0 win over Railway Union II to move into a share of third place.
Kevin Mullins was the scorer-in-chief with four goals to extend his lead at the top of the goalscoring charts for the division, moving up to 14, four clear of Shane Dempsey.
Tom Noonan, Luke Hayden, Scott Beattie, Rob Kelly and Rob Forrest were also on the mark in a resounding result.
At Milltown, Phil Powderly claimed an equaliser on his return to Ireland after a spell in Australia as YMCA II drew 2-2 with Kilkenny. Another returnee Dirk van der Spuy got a touch to Stephen Barry’s drag-flick to make it 1-0 to the Y before Kilkenny swapped the lead around.
Tristan Lynas levelled matters from Tom Manning’s assist for 1-1 and former Suttonians man Reuben Holden got his first for the club with a peach of an effort to take the lead. Powderly got a touch before the ball rebounded off a Kilkenny stick late in the game to get a point.
Results: YMCA II 2 (D van der Spuy, P Powderly) Kilkenny 2 (T Lynas, R Holden); Railway Union II 0 Clontarf 9 (K Mullins 4, T Noonan, L Hayden, S Beattie, R Kelly, R Forrest); Three Rock Rovers II v Corinthian II, Fingal v Monkstown II both off due to frost
