Women’s Leinster Division One
Hermes 8 (Rosie Carrigan 2, Aisling Naughton 2, Laura Pinder 2, Sinead Loughran, Aine Connery)
Hermes went top of women’s Leinster division one with a comprehensive victory against Corinthian in St Andrew’s on Monday evening. Rosie Carrigan scored a brace in the first half, both from penalty corners, to send the home side 2-0 up at half time.
The second half produced six field goals, the first from Aine Connery in the 37th minute and, five minutes later, after a swift passage of play, set up at the back by captain Megan Tennant-Humphreys, Sinead Loughran tapped in after Aisling Naughton had set her up.
Loughran then assisted for Laura Pinder to finish. Pinder was the provider in the 55th minute for a Naughton finish with both Pinder and Naughton on the scoresheet in the final ten minutes.
Hermes move two points clear at the top of the table by virtue of UCD’s over-turned result against Glenanne from earlier in the season after they were “sanctioned for a registration infringement”.
