Cats campaign on the rise at Fingal’s expense
Leinster Men’s Division Two
Kilkenny recorded their third win of the campaign as their vastly improved run of results coincided with Fingal’s downturn in form which now runs to five straight defeats, the cats winning 5-1 at ALSAA.
Three Rock Rovers II came from a goal down to beat YMCA II 3-1 with Eoin Buttanshaw grabbing a double. Scott Margetson scored an early penalty corner, finding a route past Ian Clarke in his first appearance for Rovers, the coach stepping in for Stephen Dawson who has been filling in for the first team during Stephen West’s recovery time.
Margetson slid another push just wide but Rovers bounced back well. Buttanshaw levelled with a thin, diving touch to Luke McSharry’s right wing cross.
In a controlled second half display, Rovers went ahead when Jonathan Roberts laid on from the baseline for elder brother Steven to poke home. Buttanshaw swept home the third to complete the win.
Monkstown’s imperious form continued with a 6-0 win over Corinthian II, six different scorers on the mark with Patrick Temperley, Geoff Cole, Ross Quirke, Andrew Gaw, David Nolan and David Watkins all on the mark.
They continue to share the lead with Pembroke II who won 3-1 under the Friday night lights at Park Avenue, seeing off Railway Union II.
