Declan Hughes has been wracking up a series of interviews with some of the great and good from around the Leinster hockey scene and beyond for Dublin City 103.2FM’s coverage of the sport. Every Sunday, in conjunction with The Hook, the channel reviews the weekend action between 4.30pm and 5pm while the big games are previewed on Friday evening.
Below are some of the most recent interviews from the past fortnight. Declan went out to take in Hermes’ 1-0 win in the Leinster league against Railway Union and he caught up with Hannah de Burgh Whyte and Rudi Wortmann.
Ulster Elks won the women’s intervarsities at Queen’s with a stunning 8-3 win over UCD in the final. John Cathcart, part of the UU management team, reflects on that incredible tournament.
Monkstown blew Three Rock Rovers away in the Leinster men’s division one in a breathtaking display. Graham Shaw and Joe Brennan had hugely divergent assessments of how their respective teams performed on the day.
Most recently, Declan took in Loreto’s 2-1 win over the Ulster Elks in the women’s Irish Hockey League, the Beaufort side taking the laurels in a contentious battle that puts the Beaufort club in great shape in the competition.
