Men’s Leinster Division Two, day four round-up
Three Rock Rovers II and Pembroke II moved away from the five-way tie on six points that existed before the weekend with their third wins in-a-row each, beating Clontarf and Kilkenny, respectively.
At Grange Road, John Blakeney popped up with the winner at the back post from the last play of the day to win a good quality game with Tarf.
Kevin Mullins got the Bulls in front barely 15 seconds into the tie as Rovers started slowly but they duly got back on terms via Garry Ringwood. He added a penalty stroke, counter-acted by Mullins’ second to set the game up at 2-2 before the Three Rock captain won the tie.
Pembroke kept their perfect record in tact as Scott Sullivan’s double eased them to a 3-0 win over Kilkenny in Serpentine Avenue. They retain their perfect record as a result and have a game in hand on Rovers after their 8-0 win over Suttonians was wiped from the record.
Monkstown II had a big win to punch a big hole in Railway Union’s impressive start to life in the second tier, Rory Nichols and David Watkins scoring a pair each for a very young sky-blue side.
Like Pembroke, they had three points taken off their tally by Suttonians’ departure from the league and so this was their first recorded points of the campaign.
Corinthian II also got off the mark with a scoreless draw against YMCA II on Saturday.
