Tarf and TRR move into share of second place

Men’s Leinster Division Two
Two teams have moved up to six points in men’s Leinster division two last Saturday, joining Fingal and Railway Union on that mark to make it a cluster of four teams sitting just off the pace set by Pembroke.

Clontarf picked off a big win over Railway Union II

Clontarf were one such side as John Mullins brought his tally to four goals in two games as he netted both of the Bulls’ goals against Railway, inflicting a first defeat of the season on the Park Avenue side.

The game was contentious enough but may well be remembered for a bizarre moment in which Tarf hit the bar three times in quick succession.

Three Rock joined them on six points with a second big win in succession, this time winning the Dublin 16 derby against Corinthian at Whitechurch Park with a first second team goals for Conor Empey while Luke McSharry and Jonathan Roberts netted twice each.

Rovers face Clontarf next Saturday in Grange Road in a key game for both side’s aspirations in this division.

Pembroke, though, still lead the way as Eric Foy’s hat trick saw them run up an 8-0 result, six coming before half-time against a vastly under strength Suttonians.

In Kilkenny, meanwhile, the lead swapped a couple of times but honours were shared with the visiting YMCA to get the cats off the mark.

Daniel Ellison put the Y 1-0 up but Mattie Bourke and Eamon Walshe swapped the lead around before Alex Price levelled matters.

Emmett Hughes’ side are on the road back up to Dublin to take on Pembroke on day four of the season while YM have home comforts for the visit of Corinthian.

Fingal are back in action after a weekend off with a north Dublin derby on the agenda against Sutton; Monkstown, likewise, return with a tie at Railway Union.
