Town’s Italian Job

Monkstown 6 (Carson 2, Good 2, Watkins, Cole)  H.C. Bra 0

**Report from Gareth Evans

Monkstown enjoyed a convincing first day victory over Italian champions H.C. Bra. Having started the brighter they went ahead through a Davy Carson snapshot after Gavin O’Halloran had forced a turnover from Bra in midfield. Monkstown continued to press Bra and got their 2nd goal following a super pass from Lee Cole to Gareth Watkins who skilfully turned the defender and slipped past the advancing keeper. Davey Carson scored the Towns 3rd goal and his 2nd  after good link up play with Gavin O’Halloran along the baseline.

Stephen Cole added a 4th goal after stealing the ball in the midfield, beating an advancing defender and powerfully finishing past the H.C. Bra keeper. Kyle Good added a 5th goal before half time finishing well from the top of the D when set up by David Nolan.

Monkstown sat off a bit more in the second half and soaked up most of the pressure Bra could throw at them and continued to be a threat on the break through Peter Caruth and Jazze Henry. They added a 6th goal through Kyle Good, who in turn got his 2nd of the game,  from an Ian Horsfield cross with about 4 minutes left on the clock.

Their next game is against the Austrian side ATHC Wien, who lost their opening game 3-1, on the Saturday at midday Irish time.
