Ireland’s men play England this evening and tomorrow morning in two challenge matches as part of their build-up to the Champions Challenge I in Malaysia in what will be Craig Fulton’s first game in charge.
It will be the 100th time the two sides have met and the first since they drew in last August’s European Championships in Boom, Belgium.
This history spans back to 1895, with England winning 66 out of the 99 meetings. Fifteen of England’s squad will have vivid memories of the team’s last encounter, a result that saw them scrape through to the semi-finals.
Ireland’s panel is more experimental with just five of the European panel included.
