The Masters Interprovincials take place in Garryduff, Cork this weekend, involving ten men’s teams, six women’s teams and 30 matches.
In the men’s competition, Leinster are competing in both the O-40s and O-50s sections with Munster and Ulster. There is also an O-45s group comprising Munster, Ulster, Connacht and Ex-Pats.
Leinster are competing in both the women’s sections: at O40s level with Ulster and Connacht; and at O45s level with Ulster and Munster.
The Leinster O40s, coached by Guy Garrett, welcome a number of newcomers and well as fielding some familiar faces. Paula O’Donoghue returns after an injury which kept her out of club hockey for most of the season and strikers Caroline Sharkey and Ashling Schutte return looking for goals.
Newcomers include goal keeper Catherine Quirke and midfielder/forward Mairead D’Arcy from Weston, with Lorna Bagnall of Malahide/Fingal also impressing. The team is captained by Old Alex’s Noreen Dockery.
The Leinster O45s, coached by Gordon Watkins, sees one new face in Sharon Burke joining the squad. The team, captained by Maura O’Neill, sees Masters stalwarts such as Linda Jenkinson, Alison Pigot and Annie Lawlor in the team.
