John Waring U14 Boys Tournament
St Andrew’s made it three John Waring titles in four years in its U-14 format as they swept to five wins from five in Lisnagarvey on Wednesday afternoon, finishing seven points clear of Cookstown HS.
They started out with a narrow 1-0 success against Ashton, Reece Jordan on the mark before seeing off Sullivan Upper 3-0, Midleton 5-0 and High School 4-0 to put them in the clear.
A 3-1 success over Cookstown in the final game closed out the tournament with a perfect record, a game in which Sunil Gupta and Josh Little brought their tournament tallies up to four goals, a similar tally to Ben Walker.
Indeed, the goal they conceded against the Co Tyrone school was the first they let in all day and came late in their tie as they became the first school to retain this title.
Matteo Romoli, David Shanahan and Daniel O’Donovan were the key players at the back while Walker and Ben Mannion in midfield pulled the strings with Josh Little lively up front throughout.
High School produced a strong showing, too, beating Sullivan Upper 2-0 while they also drew with Cookstown and Midleton.
