Jacqui Potter Junior Cup final
Corinthian 2 (Becky Sutherland, Sarah Torrans) Old Alex 1 (Sally Campbell)
Becky Sutherland nabbed a later winner for Corinthian to retain the Junior Jacqui Potter Cup title at Grange Road on St Patrick’s Day, shading Old Alex in the final for the second successive year.
Indeed, it was the third straight year that the two clubs had contested the final in yet another fast, open-paced game. Sarah Torrans got Corinthian off to a brilliant start, the star striker racing down the right before shooting home a crisp strike from just inside the circle.
Alex, who were without the injured Katherine Egan and Chloe Harrison forcing a defensive reshuffle, replied well and were level when Sally Campbell capped off a spell of sustained pressure in the middle phase of the first half. Her side were grateful to Emma Prehn for keeping the game level with an excellent save to a Corinthian counter-attack.
The intensity continued in the second half with both sides putting in a huge work-rate, the ball racing from end to end. Campbell went very close once again while Sabine Haller created a one-on-one chance but was unable to finish off.
But the winner went the way of Corinthian when Hollie Canning embarked on a great run and fed Becky Sutherland who finished off for what ultimately proved the winner.

Hermes 2 (Louisa Bisgood, Isobel Ryan) Genesis 0
Second half goals from Louisa Bisgood and Isobel Ryan helped Hermes land the Junior Jacqui Potter Plate. Genesis impressed in the first half, holding plenty of possession but were unable to convert.
The second half saw a stronger and more competitive Hermes side put a lot more pressure on. The turning point came midway through the half when Hermes scored with an excellent shot from a short corner.
Genesis responded by attacking well but were unable to get the equaliser while Hermes capitalised inside the last three minutes with the clinching goal.
