Women’s Leinster Division One
Saturday: Hermes 9 (A Connery 2, L Pinder, K McComish, C Quinlan, C McGilp, F Bradish, E Horan, A O’Flynn) Corinthian 0
Hermes cruised to a comfortable nine goal win over Corinthian, a result that keeps them within three points of UCD at the top of division one. Kerry McComish, Laura Pinder and Eimear Horan all scored inside the first 17 minutes to give the Booterstown club a healthy lead before Fiona Bradish made it four at the break and they scarcely looked back thereafter.
Sunday: Trinity 0 North Kildare 2 (Shauna Carty, Kate Hurley)
North Kildare picked up their long awaited first win of the season on home turf on Sunday against a Trinity side riding high in recent times, finally getting a reward for the effort they have put in this season. It puts them within a point of Corinthian, making for a big battle in the final three games of the season. They were in front when Kim Baker’s cross picked out Shauna Carty for the opening goal courtesy of her deflection. Kate Hurley then fired home a straight corner strike. At the far end, Kildare defended well with Ali Bell keeping a clean sheet that gives them a big chance of avoiding the bottom rung of the table.
