Schoolgirl Interprovincials – day one round-up
Ulster and Leinster look set to contest the major laurels on day two of the shcoolgirl’s interprovincials as both provinces picked up a pair of wins each at both U-18 and U-16 level.
The blues U-18s were in red hot form at Grange Road as they ran up eight goals without response against the South East and Connacht but know their big test will come in the form of Ulster when they meet at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon in their final game of the competition.
Should the northerners carry that result, they would be left with a final game showdown with the South East to win back the title. The leading pair are the only two to have picked up wins thus far, making the title charge a two-horse race at the halfway stage.
At U-16 level, the situation looks a similar one with Leinster shading the goal-difference standings by three goals from Ulster by virtue of their 4-0 win over South East, Lucie Wolfe on the mark twice as well as a narrow win over Connacht.
In this competition, the key showdown looks to be at 10.30am when the northerners meet Leinster though Munster will hope to cause an upset after they opened the competition with a win over South East.
