News in brief: Muckross seek new coaches

** Muckross are looking for coaches to take on roles at all ages in their junior club which has risen to 230 girls in recent years. Training takes place in Muckross School in Donnybrook on Sundays with, each year, up to seven to eight league teams as well as catering for players in the non-competitive, U-12 age groups.

The club maintains a high ratio of coaches to players in the younger groups while, in the coming season, the club’s training groups will be aligning with the IHA long term player development structures and coaches will be asked to follow the LTPD coaching plans. Coaches are expected to have a code of ethics certificate and to have completed IHA coaching courses (or equivalent). If you are interested in joining the Muckross coaching team next season, contact

* Malahide HC’s junior season came to a close in style last week with their end of season, internal tournament with over 100 children and plenty of supporters involved from U-8 right the way up to U-16 level. It followed on from a closely fought U-14 tussle with a visiting team from St Bede’s Academy from Bristol (pictured above) to their Broomfield home a day earlier. This Malahide side topped their section – Division 3/4 – of the Leinster league while they are looking forward to running a summer camp in July, aimed at the 8-12 age group.
