News in brief: coaching openings

** Three Rock Ladies are seeking expressions of interest for the Ladies first eleven coaching position for the 2012/2013 season. The committee is welcoming applications from individuals who can give the required commitment for this level, demonstrate good organisational and interpersonal skills and desirably have previous experience of coaching at this level.

TRL will play in Leinster’s division two with a young and ambitious team who gained great experience in division one this season. They will be hoping to build on that experience next year and aim for promotion again.

The committee and players of the club would like to express their sincere thanks to Geoff Walker for all his hard work, dedication and enthusiasm during the last year. We wish him luck in his future roles. All applications and CVs detailing relevant experience should be sent to Alison Keogh, Ladies Club Captain, Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14 or alternatively emailed to alisonfkeogh@gmail.com by May 25.

** Portrane hockey club will hold their annual fund-raising Golf Classic on Friday, May 11 in Donabate GC. For the third year, participants will playefor the prestigious Tommy O’Sullivan Perpetual Trophy which will be presented by the O’Sullivan Family to the winning four ball team.

The event is a cornerstone of the Club’s development and is the only and most important fundraising
event for the club, helping support the rapidly increasing numbers now playing hockey in their juvenile section with up to 180 kids in the Junior Academy from U-6 up to U-14 playing hockey every week.

Tee times are available from 9am to 4.30pm with early bird booking costing €180 while the full price is €300.
This also includes a four-course dinner, a barbecue on the tenth hole and a gift intro pack as well as many prizes. To sign up for a team or for more information, contact Adrian Henchy on adrianhenchy@gmail.com or on 087 685 9260.

** Gareth Borland has moved up from the Leinster U-16 boys camp to the U-18 equivalent as head coach for next season’s Interprovincial series. The side will be managed by former Leinster senior manager Ronan Walsh while Sutton Park’s Scott Beattie will be the side’s assistant.

At U-16 level, Ben Epstein has taking on the coaching role with Ronan Hickey installed in the manager’s role for the upcoming season.
