Senior Schoolgirl’s Premier League, semi-final
Alexandra College 3 (Erika Hinkson, Lauren Power, Emily Beatty) Mount Anville 0
Alexandra College kept their double-dream alive, earning a date with St Andrew’s in the Premier league final on Thursday afternoon as they got the better of Mount Anville, who missed the services of youth international Aisling Naughton, last weekend.
Continuing their theme of incredibly fast starts, they were ahead within three minutes, earning a penalty corner from their first circle entry which Erika Hinkson put away with a high drag flick.
Mount Anville went close to levelling soon after when Lisa Mccarthy entered the circle unopposed at the top of the D from a quick five-yard free and smashed a bullet top corner but Leigh Porter somehow got a stick to it and deflected it wide.
From Alex’s next circle entry, a goal mouth scramble ensued and Lauren Power scored from close range, another case of their clinical nature.
Two further counter-attacks from deep ended with Nicola Walsh drawn into making solid saves to keep Mount Anville in the game at 2-0.
But Emily Beatty – limited to just five first half minutes due to illness – killed off the game when she scored the third goal from close range before resting for the remainder of the tie.
