Six returnees are in Rory O’Donoghue’s Leinster U-18 panel who will hope to end Ulster’s three year winning streak and bring back the interprovincial title for the first time since 2008.
The experience is spread throughout the team with goalkeeper Stefan Gallagher back with David Cole possibly lining up in front of him as a more than accomplished sweeper. Robbie Clarke can provide a lively overlapping option from either full-back position.
In midfield, there is plenty of purpose in the form of Kirk Shimmins – already with EHL experience to his credit – and Jeremy Duncan while Ross Canning leads the line. Four players step up from the U-16s, Pembroke pair David Kane and Mark Loughrey moving up a grade with Glenanne’s Ryan O’Malley and Lee Cole teams up with his brother.
Harry Morris makes his first Leinster appearance having missed out at U-16s last term with Alvaro Garcia – one of two St Killians players included – another to make his debut in blue. The competition will be played in St Andrews next week from November 18 to 20.
