Quintet back again for Scott’s Leinster U-16s

Sarah Scott can draw on five of last year’s side for experience following the announcement of the Leinster U-16 girls team to play in the interprovincial series in Stormont on October 22 and 23.

Alexandra College’s Irish U-16 duo Amber Gleeson and sharp-shooter Anna Roopnarinesingh are both back for another spell with the side as they look to win back the title for the first time since 2005.

Holy Child’s Jenna Volpert, Wesley’s Sarah Quill and Ailbhe Marsh, from Mount Anville, are the other trio back for another run for the young blues.

The side includes a large representation from St Gerards with three players involved including 13 year-old Elena Tice who became the second youngest ever cricket international in the world in August when she lined for Ireland against the Netherlands.

Miah Phelan is the sole non-South Dublin player included in the panel, the Newbridge club member representing her school Cross and Passion, Kilcullen.

Leinster U-16 girls panel: Rhona Conway Kenny (GK, Loreto Foxrock), Alannah Carragher (GK, High School), Rachel Gray (Alexandra College), Amber Gleeson (Alexandra College), Jenna Volpert (Hermes), Elena Tice (St Gerards), Saoirse O’Donoghue (The High School), Bryony Biggam (St Gerards), Louise McCollum (Alexandra College), Sarah Patton (Loreto Dalkey), Louise Gilmore (St Gerards), Sarah Twoomey (Mount Anville), Miah Phelan (Cross & Passion Kilcullen), Anna Roopnarinesingh (Alexandra College), Sarah Quill (Wesley College), Ailbhe Marsh (Mount Anville), Sorcha Clarke (Loreto Dalkey), Phillippa Cotter (Mount Anville)

Here’s hoping we can catch Ulster this year! It’s been a Leinster-Ulster final for the last few years and a win on their turf would be great!!

Best of luck to Scotty and all the crew!
