Ireland’s men begin their summer campaign on Thursday evening with the first of a three-game series against Wales in the National Hockey Stadium in Belfield but they will do so without some of their big hitters.
A dozen of the panel have returned from their time on the continent but Reading’s Chris Cargo and Club de Campo’s Ronan Gormley will be in the Hague as part of their respective clubs EuroHockey League bids. They meet at the semi-final stage. Den Bosch’s Alan Sothern, meanwhile, is ruled out due to a metatarsal injury sustained in camp this week.
Revington has remained tight-lipped about who will play in this upcoming series of games with his players currently involved in a gruelling two-week training get-together.
“Wales provide our Ireland squad with valuable international game time. We have a large training squad at present and will look to use the games versus Wales to narrow down our Celtic Cup and 4 Nations Team selections.”
Schedule (all at Belfield):
Thursday, June 9: Ireland v Wales, 8pm; Saturday, June 11: Ireland v Wales, 4pm; Sunday, June 12: Ireland v Wales, 2pm
