Men’s Division Two
Dublin University 4 (Chris Tyrell, Steven Roberts, Henry Butler, Sean Flynn) Avoca 0
Trinity lasted a hectic week in some style as they cruised to a comfortable win over Avoca to take second place on goal difference and, with it, the division one/two promotion/relegation playoff place.
Chris Tyrell (pictured) set them on their way when Freddie Hill’s skills opened the space to square and the tall striker turned and flicked in. Steven Roberts dragged in the second soon after as the Blackrock visitors struggled to get anything going in the first half.
They were further behind when Henry Butler finished off the goal of the game, working the ball all the way from the back, going down the left where Tyrell laid up the old Etonian for 3-0.
And Sean Flynn completed the rout with another good goal, beating a couple of players before smacking in from the top of the circle.
It concludes the regular season campaign for both, Trinity picking up seven points in five days to end Avoca’s long stint in second place and now prepare for the playoff with UCD with a time and date to be concerned with both hoping to avoid a clash with exams.
