Senior Women’s International challenge match: Ireland 2 (Anna O’Flanagan, Cliodhna Sargent) France 0
Ireland completed their three game series with France with a third successive 2-0 win on the day when Shirley McCay joined the 100 cap club.
The combative midfielder captained the side for the occasion, regular skipper Alex Speers lining out with Railway on Easter Monday in the bronze medal match in the EuroHockey Club Champion’s Trophy.
Ireland took the lead when a strike by Nikki Symmons was deflected home by Anna O’Flanagan for her first senior international goal, bulging the roof of the net.
The second goal came six minutes from time as Cliodhna Sargent hit home a penalty corner to claim a series whitewash.
