IHA to present player development plan

The IHA will present the first draft of their new Long-Term Player Development model to players, parents and coaches of all affiliated clubs, schools and colleges seeking feedback and suggestions for improvement, on Wednesday, March 23 at 7.45pm in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, Naas Road.

The national association is currently in the process of reviewing the long-term Athlete Development Model for hockey.

Following nationwide consultation, a group has been working to develop a new model which should positively impact on all areas of player development – (physical/technical/tactical), coaching, competitions and retention in the sport at all ages.

The new model covers the traditional elite development pathway but also the recreational players at all levels with a view to increase and retain participation in hockey.

The IHA invite all interested to attend to provide feedback on the model before it is finalised and a detailed implementation plan and resources are committed to.
The meeting should not last more than 90 minutes.

If you will be attending please let us know by emailing coaching@hockey.ie giving the names and Club, School or College being represented.
