The Leinster Ladies Hockey Union and the men’s Leinster Branch of the Irish Hockey Association yesterday took the early decision to call off all fixtures under their jurisdiction for Saturday and Sunday. Both bodies are currently in the process of working out a rescheduling of the weekend’s fixtures.
It follows the IHA’s decision to cancel this weekend’s IHL fixtures on Wednesday as the big freeze plays havoc with hockey’s fixture list.
To that end, the two men’s Irish Hockey Challenge games – Ballymena vs Saintfield and Kilkenny vs Limerick – and the ESB IHC tie between NUIG and Kilkenny are all postponed December 18.
The ESB Irish Hockey Trophy games from last weekend will now take place on either January 22 and 29 (see the IHA’s website for full details).
Meanwhile, the draws for the second round of the men’s Irish Senior Cup and ESB Women’s ISC will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 6pm in Smyths in Ranelagh. It was to be held in Rosbrien after the Catholic Institute vs Loreto IHL game this plan has changed due to the widespread cancelations.
