Best of Facebook: November

A busy month on the Facebook page, there’s a wide variety of clips to help with the ‘cabin fever’ setting in for many without training and matches to fill the evenings. So here goes with the best of the clips and links sent to the Facebook page in the last month, feel free to post on the site or leave a comment below

** The month started with Jamie “the Rockhampton Rocket” Dwyer being named the men’s World Player of the Year. Click here to see his acceptance interview while below is the reason why he has won the title four times – the most by any male.

** Among the nominees for the men’s player of the year is Hook favourite Moritz Furste. Check out his delightful corner manoeuvre in his highlight reel.

** Luciana “the Magician” Aymar won the women’s FIH World Player of the Year. Again, click here for her interview while below is her highlight reel, including that goal against Spain, which earned her the crown for a seventh time.

** Throughout November, many members of the hockey fraternity have been donating their face to charity, raising funds for Action Prostrate Cancer. They have done so by growing a Mo (moustache) for what is now known as Movember.

If you would like to nominate someone (or yourself) as one of the best mo’s in Leinster hockey, leave a pic on The Hook’s facebook page. The best one will receive a donation from the site, closing date is Sunday, December 5.

** The FIH have launched an Umpire rules video library. Check it out here

** Trinity’s men and Botanic hockey club have been in the media this month; the former were interviewed as part of college production The Sports Round-Up Episode 1 while the latter were in the running for a “Better Community” award. Here is their entry video.

** Irish international Megan Frazer was named an “All-American” for her performances for the University of Maryland Terrapins as they won the NCAA title a fortnight ago. Check out her winning goal in the 28th minute of “double overtime”.

    Why Removed says

Why was the story about Tim Lewis that was on here yesterday removed?

    Stephen Findlater says

The post which was up for a few hours yesterday has been taken down as, in the wake of its publication, I received a couple of strong refutations of most of the points made in the piece. I endeavoured to write the piece to the best of my journalistic ability but, as it appears that a general consensus of the “facts” of the matter was not attainable at this time, it was better to remove the article to cause less confusion and to wait until more clarity on the matter is forthcoming.

Thank you to all for their submissions and comments but unfortunately I am not in a position to post them on to The Hook at this time.

    Stephen

Jamie Dwyer is so bleedin’ hot right now.

That finish against the Pakistanis at the near post is ridiculous.
