The season starts here… Women’s Division One

Three in-a-row chasing Railway Union will hope to ease back into the season when they host Bray tomorrow with their international contingent growing from three to five in recent weeks.

Julia O’Halloran and Alex Speers add extra forward momentum to the panel for the visit of Cliff Bailey’s Co Wicklow side who travel without the services of Mary Goode who has retired from club hockey for the forthcoming season.

Title rivals Hermes and their trio of international stars make the short hop to Serpentine Avenue to face Pembroke with Lisa Jacob, Sinead McCarthy and Audrey O’Flynn in tow.

Loreto get their campaign up and running at Glenanne; Old Alex face Corinthian in Whitechurch while both student sides have  a delayed start to the season and will play their fixture on October 3.

* Old Alex were another of the big summer moves with the capture of Shirley McCay a big boon
