Summary: The restructuring of the Pembroke side under Justin Sherriff following Natalie Fulton’s tenure as coach means he will take a while to work out his strongest squad.

Injuries to former captain Rachel McKeon and Shona Doyle and Hilda Maguire’s retirement mean they will a youthful look about them when they tip off this weekend with pacy Mount Sackville starlet Olivia Smartt added to the squad along with Sharon Carey and Avril Dooley-Carroll.

Losing three of their most talented youngsters is a blow with Alice Ward, Orla Fox and Hayley O’Donnell moving on to pastures new.

With a number of second team players involved, four-goal setbacks to Loreto and Armagh gave a measure of the challenge ahead but it is one Sherriff is looking forward to in his first division one coaching role.

They spent much of last season languishing in ninth before an upsurge in form bounced them up to sixth in the standings while IHL form was decent.

They start at Hermes, the scene of their seasonal high-point in the Jacqui Potter Cup semi-final.

First three games: Hermes (a); Bray (h); Glenanne (h)
