Glenanne – Women’s Division One preview

Last Season: 7th, ISC third round

Coach: Guy Garrett (2nd season)

Players In: Aoife Dalton (Three Rock Ladies), Claire Shillington (Clontarf), Rebecca O’Reilly (Lisnagarvey)
Players Out: Marie Goulding (Reading, England)

Summary: In the mini-league from sixth to ninth, Glenanne’s prospects look reasonably strong under the tutelage of Guy Garrett with three decent additions to the panel.

Irish international cricketer Claire Shillington is added to the panel – joining team mate Mary Waldron – while Rebecca O’Reilly returns to the club from a spell with Lisnagarvey.

Aoife Dalton makes the switch across the Three Rock mountain from Grange Road, too.

Injury, though, has robbed the side of a couple of key performers with Ali Geoffroy, Trish McGinley and Ciara Nugent all missing for the start of the season.

Preseason has taken the side to play Galway while also travelling north to play in the Orchard Cup in Armagh and down south to play in a tournament at Farmer’s Cross in Cork.

As one of the hardest –working teams going, they looked decently equipped to head up the chasing pack in spite of Marie Goulding’s trip across the water where she continues her nutrition studies in Reading.

A tough opening week beckons but they have the division one knowledge now to push on.

First three games: Loreto (h); UCD (a); Pembroke (a)
