Coach: Cliff Bailey (1st season)
Players In: Gemma Doyle, Ruth Coleman
Players Out: Mary Goode (retired), Nikki Dignam (retired), Mairead Mahon (retired), Erin Bailey
Summary: Mary Goode’s retirement is the big blow to Bray that leaves them very much looking for inspiration as Cliff Bailey takes over the coaching role from Johnny Harte.
The talismanic Irish goalkeeper is taking a break from the national squad a few week’s back and has confirmed her retirement from the club game with the Co Wicklow club.
Nikki Dignam and Mairead Mahon are also retiring while Erin Bailey will take a break from the game this season meaning the squad will be injected with a smattering of youth.
Ruth Coleman arrives while Sarah Coleman stays after spending some of preseason training with Old Alex. Gemma Doyle – captain in the promotion season three years ago – is back in the mix while Jen O’Neill could feature later in the season.
Linda O’Neill continues to be the driving influence from midfield while Catherine Murray – when available around her Garda duties – has quality to spare.
Three quick-fire friendlies last week against Muckross, Monkstown and Loreto II all yielded wins but Bailey will endure a baptism of fire when Railway come visiting.
First three games: Railway Union (h); Pembroke (a); Corinthian (h)
